Why we built our own CRM (and what it runs today)

Every business we start adds the same shopping list: somewhere to track customers, somewhere to take orders, an inbox, invoicing, a way to fulfil. Buy that off the shelf per brand and the subscriptions multiply faster than the revenue. Run nineteen brands and it stops being a software decision and becomes a tax.

So we built our own. One CRM, custom to how we actually operate: every brand is a configuration, not a new account. Products, orders, contacts, quotes, invoices and conversations all live in one system with one login.

What it handles today

A catalogue of 900+ products across brands, with control over which sales channel each product may appear on. Orders that arrive from any of our storefronts and route through a custom dropshipping and print-on-demand fulfilment layer — placed with the right production partner, tracked, and reconciled without a human copying anything between tabs. A unified inbox that pulls email, live chat and social messages into one queue, with sender blocking and phishing reporting built in because a business inbox earns its spam. Client portals, so the businesses we build for can log in and see their own orders and enquiries.

The point

None of this is exotic technology. The value is fit: the system matches the shape of the operation, so operating costs stay flat as brands are added. That's the same argument we make to clients — sometimes the right answer is off-the-shelf, and sometimes the subscriptions you're juggling are quietly describing the system you should own. When it's the latter, this is the kind of thing we build.

Enjoyed this? Pass it on.
